Program Description
The Financial Managers Society and Connecticut Bankers Association are pleased to announce a meeting with Matthew Mara, Managing Director, of PNC Capital Markets, LLC, to discuss an Investment Update on Wednesday, February 12th.
The investment program will cover the following topics:
Investment portfolio considerations and how they have changed over time.
Present factors affecting portfolio positioning (e.g. interest rate risk; earnings; liquidity; capital; yield curve shape and a credit downturn).
Optimizing investment portfolio performance and managing risk.
Relative value analysis highlighting pros and cons of various investment sectors, and bonds within those sectors.
Strategies banks are employing today to improve earnings and margins while managing risk exposure.
Matthew Mara, Managing Director, PNC Capital Markets LLC
Matthew Mara is a Managing Director in PNC Capital Markets and is responsible for balance strategies & fixed income sales with a specialization in working with domestic depository financial institutions. Matt works closely with depositories to fulfill their strategic priorities by helping them target and execute balance sheet strategies. Matt has spent his entire 30+ year career working in the capital markets, having served in senior positions at a number of prominent investment banks with experience in fixed income sales & trading, balance sheet strategies, and capital markets. Immediately prior to joining PNC, Matt spent 3 years as a Managing Director in the Financial Institutions Group at Brean Capital, acting in a similar role to his current one at PNC. Earlier in his career, Matt served in various senior capital markets roles at Sterne Agee (2+ years), Keefe, Bruyette & Woods (5+ years), Sandler O’Neill & Partners (7+ years), and ABN AMRO (11+ years).
We look forward to continuing the “Early Talk” program this season as well. As attendees enjoy their salads and prepare for the evening’s presentation, Tom Mongellow, President & CEO of CT Bankers Assn and Jon Skarin, Executive Vice President of Mass Bankers Assn, will provide an update on the Washington scene along with landscapes taking shape in Massachusetts and throughout New England.
