On May 15th, FMS members volunteered at the Family Pantry of Cape Cod to support the cleaning of the garden and preparation / planting for the current year. The Family Pantry of Cape Cod is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to serving the needs of the less fortunate of Cape Cod. The Family Pantry of Cape Cod works to not only provide people with food but also to make sure that they primarily stock nutritious food items. Recent studies have shown a link between poverty, obesity and pre-diabetic health issues. In 2011, the Family Pantry built a production garden in back of the Pantry and are now able to provide fresh vegetables and fruits to their clients. All produce grown in the garden is harvested and brought in to the Pantry for distribution to their clients.
